James Michael Dorsey

Dorsey-with-Bwa-Dancer,-BenJames Michael Dorsey, author of  A Light in the Darkness in Chance Encounters (World Traveler Press) is an explorer, author, photographer, and lecturer, who has traveled extensively in 45 countries. His principle interest is visiting remote cultures in Africa and Asia. He is a travel consultant to Brown & Hudson of London.

He has written for COLLIERS, The CHRISTIAN SCIENCE MONITOR, LOS ANGELES TIMES, BBC WILDLIFE, and UNITED AIRLINES. He has also written for Natural History, Seattle Times, Orlando Sentinel, Chicago Tribune, plus numerous African magazines. His second book, “Vanishing Tales from Ancient Trails” is now available everywhere. His work has appeared in seven travel anthologies including “Best Travel Writing of 2014”

He is a correspondent for Camerapix International, the oldest African publishing house and his photography is represented by SHUTTERSTOCK. His photos have been featured by the National Wildlife Federation and International Whaling Commission. Twice chosen as Kodak Internationals’ and Smithsonian Magazines’ “Photo of the Day,” has appeared on National Public Radios’ “Weekend America” program. He is a Fellow of the Explorers Club and a former director of the Los Angeles Adventurer’s Club.
